The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 26th time in 1898/99 . The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was directed by the Scottish Football Association, began on January 14, 1899 and ended with the final on April 22, 1899 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . The defending champions were the Glasgow Rangers , who beat FC Kilmarnock in the final last year and won their fourth title after 1894 , 1897 and 1898 . In the final, Celtic Glasgow , and as in the last two years, the Rangers faced each other. It was the second Old Firm final of the two clubs after 1894 . The Bhoys won the cup final 2-0 and after 1892 became cup winners in Scotland for the second time.
