It began on September 13, 1884 and ended with the repeat final on February 28, 1885. As the defending champion, FC Queen's Park started the competition that had won in the final of the previous year against FC Vale of Leven . In this year's final of the Scottish Cup, last year's finalist FC Vale of Leven faced FC Renton . Renton reached the Scottish Cup final for the second time since 1875 . Vale of Leven for the sixth time since 1877 and for the third time in a row. The first final game ended 0-0. In the repeat finals, Renton FC won 3-1 and won the trophy for the first time in the club's history.
