Qualification for UEFA Cup Winners' Cup

The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 112th time in 1996/97 . The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was directed by the Scottish Football Association, began in December 1996 and ended with the final on May 24, 1997 in Glasgow's Hampden Park . The Glasgow Rangers, who won the title with a 5-1 win over Heart of Midlothian in the previous year's final, were eliminated in this year's quarter-finals against Celtic Glasgow in the Old Firm derby. With a 1-0 final win by a goal from Paul Wright in the 112th cup final of the traditional competition, FC Kilmarnock was able to secure their third cup success against FC Falkirk after 1920 and 1929 in the club's history. By winning the Cup could Kilmarnock simultaneously for the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup season review 1997/98 qualify.
