The Scottish Cup competition began on September 24, 2011 and ended with the final on May 19, 2012 in which Heart of Midlothian beat Hibernian Edinburgh in the Edinburgh Derby 5-1. The cup winner was eligible to compete in the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League playoff round .
