The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 70th time in 1954/55 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He began on September 11 in 1954 and ended with the repetition finals on 27 April 1955 at Hampden Park of Glasgow . As the defending champion, Celtic Glasgow started the competition, which won in the final of the previous year against FC Aberdeen . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Celtic Glasgow and FC Clyde faced each other. For Celtic it was the 24th Scottish Cup final since 1889 . Clyde reached the cup final for the fifth time since 1910 . It was the first Scottish Cup final to be broadcast live on television . After a 1-1 draw in the first final game, Clyde FC won the repeat final 1-0 with a goal from Tommy Ring . It was the second cup victory after 1939 . In the 1954/55 season , FC Aberdeen was the first Scottish champions . Celtic was runner-up, Clyde seventh in the table. Heart of Midlothian won the league cup .
