Henry "Harry" Haddock (born July 28, 1925 in Glasgow , † December 18, 1998 in Rutherglen ) was a Scottish football player.

career

Haddock played as a youth for the Renfrew Juniors and joined Exeter City as an amateur after the Second World War when regular play was resumed in the summer of 1946 . After a season he returned to Scotland, where he was active for Clyde FC until his retirement in 1963 . During this time, he was relegated with the team from the Scottish Premier League three times, but made the direct return with the team. He also won two titles with the team when Celtic Glasgow and three years later Hibernian Edinburgh were both beaten in the national cup competition in 1955 . Also due to the ups and downs with the club, he came to only seven appearances in the Scottish national team between 1954 and 1958 . He was in the squad for the 1958 World Cup . The poor performance without a win and with two defeats led, as with other players, to the subsequent disregard in the national team. Nevertheless, he was named Scotland's Footballer of the Year in 1959.
