Qualification for UEFA Cup Winners' Cup

The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 103rd time in 1987/88 . The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was directed by the Scottish Football Association, began on December 5, 1987 and ended with the final on May 14, 1988 in Hampden Park in Glasgow. FC St. Mirren started the competition as defending champions, defeating Dundee United in last year's final and winning its third title after 1926 and 1959 . This year's final was Celtic Glasgow , and like last year Dundee United. It was the third final after 1974 and 1985 in which the two clubs faced each other. The Bhoys were able to win this year's final with two goals from Frank McAvennie with 2: 1 and were cup winners in Scotland for the 28th time. Since Celtic also won the championship in addition to the cup, the club started the following year in the European Cup , United as the loser of the final in the European Cup Winners' Cup .
