The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 64th time in 1948/49 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He started on 22 January 1949 and ended with the final on April 23, 1949 Hampden Park of Glasgow . As the defending champion, the Glasgow Rangers started the competition, who had won against Greenock Morton in the final of the previous year . In this year's Scottish Cup final, the Glasgow Rangers and FC Clyde faced each other. For the Rangers it was the 20th Scottish Cup final since 1877 . The FC Clyde reached the final for the fourth time in club history after 1910 , 1912 and 1939 . The Rangers won the final 4-1, the 12th cup win since 1894 . In the 1948/49 season , the Rangers won the Scottish Championship for the 26th time and also the League Cup , which was the first time in the club's history that the triple was won. The FC Clyde narrowly escaped relegation from the first division.
