The Scottish Cup competition, which was officially held as Tennent's Scottish FA Cup , began on December 9, 2000 and ended with the final on May 26, 2001. If a duel was not decided after 90 minutes, it was a replay. If this was not decided after 90 minutes plus extra time, there was a penalty shoot-out. Celtic Glasgow secured the title in the final against Hibernian Edinburgh .
