The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 90th time in 1974/75 . The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association, began on December 14, 1974 and ended with the final on May 3, 1975 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . As the defending champion, Celtic Glasgow started the competition, which prevailed against Dundee United in the previous year's final . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Celtic and Airdrieonians FC faced each other. The Bhoys won the final with two goals from Paul Wilson , and one from Pat McCluskey , with a goal from Kevin McCann 3-1. Celtic was in the Scottish Cup final for the seventh time in a row since 1969 , and for the 39th time. The final opponent from Airdrie was in the final for the second time since 1924 . At that time, the Hibernian team beat Edinburgh . In the 1974/75 season, Celtic won not only the cup but also the league cup , celebrating the small double in Scotland. Because of the victory, the team took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup the following season . There Celtic was eliminated from the competition in the quarterfinals against BSG Sachsenring Zwickau .
