Lagershausen joined the DVP after 1918. He was a member of the state parliament of the Free State of Schaumburg-Lippe from December 1923, when he replaced Heinrich Zwitzer's resigned MP , until 1925. In the mid-1920s he became a member of the DNVP. From June 19, 1928 to April 3, 1929 he was a member of the Schaumburg-Lippische state government.

Due to the economic crisis in the glass industry, the Oldenburgische Glasfabrik AG was dissolved in 1930 and the branch factories closed. Lagershausen thus lost his position on the board and from then on worked as a property manager.
