The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 107th time in 1991/92 . The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was directed by the Scottish Football Association, began on December 7, 1991 and ended with the final on May 9, 1992 in Hampden Park in Glasgow. As the defending champion, Motherwell FC started the competition, which prevailed against Dundee United in the previous year's final . The club reached the round of 16 at this year's event in which it was defeated 1: 2 against the eventual winner, the Glasgow Rangers . The Rangers won the final against Airdrieonians FCand secured their 24th FA Cup title. The team from Glasgow could get the double by winning the FA Cup and the championship . Due to the Champions League participation of the Rangers , Airdrieonians entered the European Cup of the 1992/93 Cup Winners' Season .
