The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 79th time in 1963/64 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He began on 11 January 1964 and ended with the final on April 25, 1964, Hampden Park of Glasgow . The Glasgow Rangers , who had prevailed against Celtic Glasgow at the Old Firm the year before , started the competition as defending champions . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Rangers and FC Dundee faced each other. The Rangers reached the Scottish Cup final for the 26th time since 1877 , and the third in a row. The Dees from Dundee reached for the fourth time after 1910 , 1925 and 1952 the final. The favorite Rangers won the final 3-1. It was the 18th cup title for the Rangers . After Celtic was the sole record winner of the competition from 1925 to 1962 , the Rangers overtook their arch-rivals with this success. For Dundee it was the third consecutive defeat in a cup final, in contrast, the Rangers won their third title. In the 1963/64 season , the Rangers also won their 34th Scottish championship in the club's history. The FC Dundee was Table sixth. The Rangers also won the final of the League Cup . This was the second time they won the triple after 1949 . As Scottish champions, the Rangers took part in the European Champions Cup in the following season and reached the quarter-finals that were lost to eventual winners Inter Milan . The FC Dundee participated in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in part, and retired there in the first round against Real Zaragoza from.
