The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 50th time in 1927/28 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He started on January 21 in 1928 and ended with the final on 14 April 1928 in the Hampden Park of Glasgow . As the defending champion, Celtic Glasgow started the competition, which had won in the final of the previous year against the second division club FC East Fife . In this year's final for the Scottish Cup, the two arch rivals Celtic and the Rangers faced each other at the Old Firm . After 1894 , 1899 , 1904 and 1909 it was the 5th final derby for the two Glasgow clubs. For Celtic it was the 20th final in the Scottish Cup since 1889 . The Rangers reached the final for the 12th time since 1877 . The Rangers won the final 4-0. The Scottish Championship in the same year also won the Rangers for the 16th time in their club history. It was the first double in the club's history. Celtic was runner-up.
