The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 84th time in 1968/69 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He started on December 14, 1968, and ended with the final on 26 April 1969 at Hampden Park of Glasgow . As the defending champion, Dunfermline Athletic started in the competition, which had secured the second cup victory in the club's history after 1961 the year before . In the previous year's final , Dunfermline prevailed 3-1 against Heart of Midlothian . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Celtic Glasgow and the Glasgow Rangers faced each other at the Old Firm . Celtic won the final with a clear 4-0 victory and thus won the 20th Scottish FA Cup since their first victory in 1892 . It was the eighth final derby between the two clubs since the previous finals in 1894 , 1899 , 1904 , 1909 , 1928 , 1963 and 1966 . Celtic last won a final against the Rangers when it was hosted in 1904 . The Rangers lost a final for the first time since 1929 (then against FC Kilmarnock ). Despite a crowd of 132,870, the record visits to Hampden Park from 1937 of 149,415 and 146,433 were not achieved. At the end of the game, numerous Rangers supporters tried to storm the interior of Hampden Park, of which about 200 were taken into custody. In the 1968/69 season , Celtic won the national triple with the Scottish Championship, the Scottish FA Cup and the League Cup within 28 days . As a master who took Bhoys on European Champions Cup in part and came down to the final match of Milan opposite Feijenoord Rotterdam 1: 2 was lost after extra time. As a defeated cup finalist, the Rangers took part in the competition of the European Cup Winners' Cup and reached the 2nd round.
