Per Örjan Persson (born August 27, 1942 in Uddevalla ) is a former Swedish national football player .

career

Club career

Persson started his career at Örgryte IS . After the end of the 1964 season, he moved to Dundee United in Scotland in December . Together with Danish striker Finn Døssing, he was the club's first non-British player. In 1966 the two - Persson as preparer and Døssing as executor - led the club into the European Cup for the first time . In the trade fair cup they won two wins against FC Barcelona before the club were eliminated after a 3-0 away defeat and a 1-0 second leg win against Juventus Turin . Persson, who scored 11 goals in 29 games, had a phenomenal season. Therefore, the Scottish competition became aware of him and in 1967 he moved to the Glasgow Rangers .

In Ibrox Park Persson played for three years. Except for the 1970 victory in the Scottish League Cup , however, he could not record any success. In 1970 he returned to Sweden to his hometown club Örgryte IS, where he later ended his career.

National team

Persson was a Swedish international between 1962 and 1974 . He made his debut on June 19, 1962 in a 3-0 win against Finland . At the World Championships in 1970 and 1974 he was part of the squad. After the World Cup, 74 and 48 international matches, he ended his national team career.
