The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 81st time in 1965/66 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He started on January 8, 1966, and ended with the repetition finals on 27 April 1966 at Hampden Park of Glasgow . As the defending champion, Celtic Glasgow started the competition that had prevailed against Dunfermline Athletic the year before . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Celtic and the Rangers faced each other at the Old Firm . The Ranger gained while after a scoreless draw in the first game, the second game Final with 1: 0 by a hit of the Dane Kai Johansen . It was the 19th title for the Rangers in the club's history since their first in 1894 . After Celtic was the sole record winner of the competition from 1925 to 1962 , the Rangers caught up with Celtic again in 1963 . After this year's triumph, the Rangers were again record winners. It was the 7th final derby of the two clubs since the previous finals in 1894 , 1899 , 1904 , 1909 , 1928 and 1963. Celtic continued to lose all finals since 1904 when they met their arch-rivals. The Rangers have remained undefeated in Scottish Cup finals since 1929 (when they lost to FC Kilmarnock in the final). Celtic was eliminated just three days before the first final match in the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup against Liverpool . Despite an audience of 126,599, the record visits to Hampden Park from 1937 of 149,415 and 146,433 were not achieved. In the 1965/66 season Celtic was Scottish champion for the 21st time before the Rangers . In the final of the League Cup , both clubs from Glasgow also faced each other, with Celtic winning it 2-1. As champions, Celtic took part in the competition of the European Champions Cup the following season , and reached the final where the Lisbon Lions won 2-1 against Inter Milan . The year 1967 is considered in the club of Celtic as annus mirabilis . As cup winners, the Rangers took part in the competition of the European Cup Winners' Cup, and reached the final, which was lost against FC Bayern Munich with 0: 1 by a goal by Bulle Roth after extra time.
