The Nicholson Peninsula is a 25 km long and ice-covered peninsula on the Shackleton Coast of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It protrudes between Couzens Bay and Matterson Inlet into the western flank of the Ross Ice Shelf .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1965 after Captain William M. Nicholson (* 1918), of the United States Navy , Chief of Staff of the US Antarctic Projects Officers as part of Operation Deep Freeze in 1964.
