The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 4th time in 1876/77 . The most important Scottish football cup competition began in September 1876 and ended with the second repeat final on April 13, 1877 in Hampden Park in Glasgow. The FC Vale of Leven was able to win the title for the first time with a 3-2 victory over Glasgow Rangers in the fourth edition. In the 5th round, Vale of Leven had defeated the three-time winner of this competition, Queen's Park FC . In the following two years, 1878 and 1879 , Vale of Leven was also able to win the Cup in Scotland. From the year 1877 could referee a sending-off place.
