FC Western was founded in 1873. Between 1873 and 1877 the club participated in the Scottish Cup . The greatest success in the 1875/76 season was reaching the quarter-finals. There the club was eliminated from the competition against the eventual finalist Third Lanark . The association was dissolved in 1878.
