The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 60th time in 1937/38 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He started on 22 January 1938 and ended with the repetition finals on 27 April 1938 at Hampden Park of Glasgow . As the defending champion, Celtic Glasgow started the competition, which won in the final of the previous year against FC Aberdeen . Celtic was eliminated in the first knockout round of 1937/38. In this year's final of the Scottish Cup, the second division FC East Fife and FC Kilmarnock faced each other. The Fifers from the Scottish town of Methil reached the final for the second time since 1927 . The FC Kilmarnock reached by 1898 , 1920 , 1927 , 1929 , 1932 for the sixth time in club history the final. The Fifers won for a 1: 1 in the first game, the final repetition of the 4: 2 by extension, and thus for the first time the Scottish Cup. They were the first second division team in the history of the Scottish FA Cup to win the title. In the Scottish Championship , Kilmarnock narrowly escaped relegation to the second division. In the second division season 1937/38 , FC East Fife was fifth.
