Allan Collins (born January 24, 1918 in Kilmarnock , † 2002 ) was a Scottish football player . In his playing career he reached the Scottish Cup final in 1938 and the League Cup final in 1949 .

Career

Allan Collins was born in Kilmarnock, about 25 miles southwest of Glasgow , in 1918 . Collins played in his youth in Cumnock, not far from his hometown. In 1936 he came to FC Kilmarnock . On January 2, 1937 he made his professional debut in the 1936/37 season against FC Falkirk . A week later he scored his first goal in a 3-3 home game against Celtic Glasgow . At the end of the season there were 11 league games and three goals on his account. In the 1937/38 season the striker was a regular in Kilmarnock. He scored fourteen times in 34 games. In 1938 he reached the final of the Scottish Cup with the Killies , which was lost to FC East Fife in the replay final. After the club at the end of season 1946/47 in the Division Two was staying, Collins remained the club continue faithful. In the second division season 1947/48 he got 24 goals in 30 games, including two hat tricks against Dundee United and the Raith Rovers .

In 1948, Collins moved within the second division to the Raith Rovers. With his new club, he achieved promotion to the highest Scottish league as champions of the second division in the first year.
