The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 74th time in 1958/59 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He started on January 31, 1959, and ended with the final on April 25, 1959 Hampden Park of Glasgow . As defending champions, FC Clyde started the competition, which had won against Hibernian Edinburgh in the final last year . In this year's Scottish Cup final, FC St. Mirren and FC Aberdeen faced each other. The Saints reached the final for the fourth time after 1908 , 1926 and 1934 . The Dons from Aberdeen reached the cup final for the third time after 1947 and 1953 . The Saints won the final 3-1 and thus the Cup in Scotland for the second time since 1926. In the 1958/59 season , the Glasgow Rangers were Scottish champions for the 31st time . The Saints finished seventh, Aberdeen table thirteenth. Heart of Midlothian won the league cup .
