James Robertson "Jim" Clunie (born September 4, 1933 in Kirkcaldy , † May 12, 2003 in Kilmarnock ) was a Scottish football player and coach .

Career

Clunie played mainly for Aberdeen FC and St. Mirren FC in his career . In 1959 he played for the Scottish Cup with Aberdeen in front of 108,000 spectators at Hampden Park against FC St. Mirren, but Aberdeen lost the game 3-1. Shortly after moving to St. Mirren in 1963, he played again for the Scottish Cup, this time Mirren lost the final. He later began his coaching career and began in 1978 as the successor to Alex Ferguson at FC St. Mirren. He made the club known across Europe before taking third place in the league in 1981 and being replaced by McFarlane. He then took the coaching position at FC Kilmarnock , which he held until 1985.
