The Narvik Airport (norw. Narvik lufthavn, Framnes ) was a regional airport of the city of Narvik in Nordland , Norway . It was closed in April 2017.
In regular service it was served exclusively by the Norwegian airline Widerøe . Daily connections to Bodø , Andenes and Tromsø were offered. From Bodø there were connections with SAS Scandinavian Airlines and Widerøe to Oslo , Trondheim , Bergen and Mo i Rana .
The region's national and international air traffic is handled via Harstad / Narvik Airport, which is located in the municipality of Evenes and around 79 km from Narvik.
The scheduled flights from Narvik-Framnes were promoted by the Norwegian government in order to optimize the connection to other cities in Northern Norway for business and private people, as the travel times by car due to the geographical conditions of the country and despite the greatly improved in recent years Infrastructure are still very long. The journey from Narvik to Bodø and Andenes takes around 4.5 hours and to Tromsø around 3.5 hours.
