The Ålesund Airport , Vigra ( Norwegian: lufthavn Alesund, Vigra) is located on the island of Vigra , near the western Norwegian city of Alesund . The city is connected to the island of Vigra by two submarine tunnels. The airport is operated by the Norwegian state - owned company Avinor .
