The Sandane airport ( Norwegian lufthamn Sandane, Anda ) is an airport located in the province Vestland in the west of Norway . The airport is 4 km south of Lote and about 8 km northwest of the eponymous city of Sandane. The operator is the Norwegian state - owned company Avinor . The rental car providers SIXT , AVIS and rentalcar are located on site. The airport served over 40,000 passengers in 2015.

history

The first four airports in the province of Sogn og Fjordane and the southern coastal region of Norway were Florø , Førde , Sogndal and Ørsta / Volda . These left the Nordfjord region without an airport. At that time there were a total of four locations available for a new airport. The current location was ultimately recognized as the best location. After a few years of construction, Sandane Airport opened on July 1, 1975 . The first flight destinations offered were Bergen , Ålesund and a few other airports on the Norwegian coast.
