The Sandefjord Airport Torp ( IATA code TRF , ICAO code ENTO , norw. Lufthavn Sandefjord, Torp ) is an international Norwegian airport in Sandefjord . Although it is about 86 km from Oslo , some airlines also refer to it as Oslo-Torp Airport .

Location and transport links

The airport is located about 86 km south of Oslo and 6 km north of Sandefjord near the European route 18 . The trains on the Vestfoldbane stop every hour at the stop of the same name near the airport. There is a free shuttle bus connection to and from the airport.

history

Although the Norwegian government had made it clear that it would not allow American troops to be stationed there, NATO offered in 1952 to finance an airport near Sandefjord . The airport was inaugurated on July 2, 1956, and from 1958 the airport was also used for civilian purposes. In 1997, Ryanair added the airport to its route network, which is now mainly served by low-cost airlines .
