Vigra is an island near the town of Ålesund on the Norwegian coast . It belongs to the municipality of Giske in the province ( Fylke ) Møre og Romsdal . Ålesund's local airport is located on the island .
Former medium wave transmitter
Up until September 8, 2011, Vigra had a radio transmission system for medium wave, which used a 232-meter-high self-radiating tubular steel mast as an antenna.
