Ōshū Kaidō
The Ōshū Kaidō ( Japanese 奥 州 街道 ) was one of the five highways between the capital and the provinces. It connected Edo in Bushū / Province Musashi with the northern Japanese Ōshū / Province Mutsu .
history
Ōshū Kaidō in the narrower sense was the road from Edo to Shirakawa with 27 stations, in the broader sense including the extension to Minmaya (today: Sotogahama ) with a total of 115 stations. The road to Papinot was 750 km long and had 87 stations.
The Nikkō-Kaidō branched off in Utsunomiya .
