Kasukabe ( Japanese 春日 部 市 , - shi ) is a Japanese city in the east of Saitama Prefecture . It is located about 30 km from Tokyo .
The outer drainage canal for the capital area ( Shutoken Gaikaku Hōsuiro ( Japanese 首都 圏 外 郭 放水 路 )) is monitored and controlled from Kasukabe .
In Japan, Kasukabe is known as the setting for the manga and anime series Crayon Shin-chan .
