Sakado ( Japanese 坂 戸 市 , - shi ) is a city in the center of Saitama Prefecture .

Sakado is north of Kawagoe and south of Higashimatsuyama .

The Koma and Oppe rivers flow through the city .

history

In the Edo period, Sakado was a post station on the route from Hachiōji in Edo to Nikkō .

Sakado received town charter on September 1, 1976 .
