Qualification for UEFA Cup Winners' Cup

The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 80th time in 1964/65 . The most important football cup competition in Scottish club football was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association. He began on January 9, 1965, ended with the final on 24 April 1965 at Hampden Park of Glasgow . The Glasgow Rangers , who had prevailed against FC Dundee the year before , started the competition as defending champions . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Celtic Glasgow and Dunfermline Athletic faced each other. Celtic reached the Scottish Cup final for the 30th time since 1889 . The Pars from Dunfermline reached for the second time after 1961 the final, which they then against Celtic won. That year, Celtic took revenge and won the final 3-2. It was the first title for Celtic since winning the league cup final in 1957 . After the Bhoys were the sole record winner of the competition from 1925 to 1962 , the Rangers had overtaken their arch-rivals in 1964 . After this triumph, both clubs had 18 wins each. In the 1964/65 season , FC Kilmarnock surprisingly became Scottish champions for the first time in the club's history . Dunfermline finished third, Celtic a disappointing eighth. In the final of the League Cup , the Rangers and Celtic faced each other in the Old Firm . The Rangers won this 2-1. As a cup winner, Celtic took part in the competition of the European Cup Winners' Cup the following season and made it to the semi-finals. Dunfermline participated in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in part, and reached the quarter-finals, which to eventual winners Real Zaragoza was lost.
