John Evans Wright Sinclair (born July 21, 1943 in Culross , Scotland , † September 2, 2010 in dollars ) was a Scottish football player. Sinclair played in the position of attacking midfielder .
Career
Before joining a professional club, Sinclair played for Blairhall Colliery . Sinclair began his professional career a few days after he turned 17 at Dunfermline Athletic . He played there from 1960 to 1965, completed a total of 61 games and was able to score 33 goals in these. With the Pars he reached the Scottish Cup final in 1965 . In May 1965 he then moved to Leicester City , where he was able to score 50 goals in 103 games from 1965 to 1968. In the mid- 1960s at Dunfermline and Leicester, he scored around every other game, which was an exceptionally high number for a midfielder. In 1967 he moved to Newcastle United , where he played in 43 league games and was able to achieve 6 goals in these. In 1969 he and his team were able to win the title at the Messestädte-Pokal by winning 6-2 against Újpest Budapest in the final. In December 1969 he was transferred to Sheffield Wednesday for David Ford . There he completed 101 games, but was loaned to third division Chesterfield FC in 1972 , where he scored three goals in ten games. After the 1972/73 season he moved to Dunfermline Athletic, where he was able to score nine goals in 52 games. Sinclair ended his career with the Scottish club FC Stenhousemuir .
Sinclair completed his first and only game for the Scottish national football team in a 1-0 draw against Portugal in 1966 . He was also scheduled for the game against Brazil , but had to take a break due to various injury problems.
Private life
Sinclair was married and had a daughter and a son. His uncle Tommy Wright (* 1928), his brother Willie Sinclair (* 1934), his cousin Tommy Wright (* 1966) and his son Chris Sinclair (* 1970) were also professional soccer players. On September 2, 2010, he died the first player of the champion team of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup by Newcastle United in 1969 after a long cancer in dollars .
