The Scottish FA Cup was played for the 86th time in 1970/71 . The most important Scottish football cup competition, which was directed and hosted by the Scottish Football Association, began on December 5, 1970 and ended with the repeat final on May 12, 1971 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . As the defending champion, FC Aberdeen started the competition, which had secured the second cup victory in the club's history since 1947 the year before . In the final of the previous year, the Dons from Aberdeen prevailed against the record winner Celtic Glasgow . In this year's Scottish Cup final, Celtic and the Rangers faced each other at the Old Firm . With a 2-1 win in the replay finals , Celtic won the 21st Scottish FA Cup since their first victory in 1892 . It was the 9th final derby between the two clubs since the previous finals in 1894 , 1899 , 1904 , 1909 , 1928 , 1963 , 1966 and 1969 . The two final games of the Scottish Cup were one of the last to attract more than 100,000 spectators. In January 1971, during the Old Firm Derby, the second Ibrox disaster occurred in which 66 football fans died. In the first final there were numerous clashes between the two warring camps in the stands, which led to 60 injured people and 188 arrests. In the 1970/71 season , Celtic won the double with the Scottish Championship and the Scottish FA Cup . In the final of the League Cup , the Rangers beat Celtic 1-0. As a master who took Bhoys on European Champions Cup in part and we came to the semi-finals. As a defeated cup finalist, the Rangers took part in the competition of the European Cup Winners' Cup, and won this title in the final in Barcelona against FK Dynamo Moscow .
