The Penny Point is an ice-covered headland at the Shackleton Coast in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It is located on the south side of the Nicholson Peninsula and, together with Cape Douglas to the south, marks the entrance from the Ross Ice Shelf into the Matterson Inlet .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1965 after Lieutenant Commander Harmon Charles Penny (1922-2003) of the United States Navy , commandant of the USS Vance during Operation Deep Freeze in 1962.
