The Cape Douglas is an ice-covered cape at the Shackleton Coast of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . On the west side of the Ross Ice Shelf , it marks the southern limit of the entrance to Matterson Inlet .
Participants in the Discovery Expedition (1901-1904) of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott discovered it. Scott named it after Admiral Archibald Lucius Douglas (1842-1913), who had enforced the Admiralty 's provision of seafarers for the expedition.
