Ian Maurice Davidson Foote (born March 24, 1933 in Glasgow , † December 1, 1995 ) was a Scottish football referee .
Career
Ian Foote directed games within the Scottish Football League , including the Scottish Premier Division , in the 1970s and 1980s . He also directed five finals in his career as a referee. Four of them in Scotland including three cup finals and one league cup final. Internationally, Foote whistled the first leg final of the 1978/79 UEFA Cup between Red Star Belgrade and Borussia Mönchengladbach . Foote also whistled numerous games in the European Cup and Cup Winners' Cup for FIFA and UEFA . In 1975 and 1977 he was at least twice in international matches. The GDR national team was represented twice .
His main job was as a tea merchant in Glasgow. Foote died in 1995 at the age of 62.
