Wojciech Jaszczołd (* 1763 in Jaszczołdy ; † March 22, 1821 in Warsaw ) was a Polish sculptor, draftsman and painter who also worked as a (lay) architect. He designedinteriors for castles and gardenaccessories for Polish magnates , including in Arkadia and Puławy .

Life

Little is known about Jaszczołd's early years . He evidently acquired his artistic skills during stays abroad in Italy and France. He was a student of Marcello Bacciarelli and Franciszek Smuglewicz . After his return he soon made a name for himself among the aristocrats of Poland both as an interior designer and as an organizer of parties.

From 1813 he worked for Stanisław Kostka Potocki in Wilanów , where he looked after the picture gallery and created a "Chinese Cabinet". He was buried in the Świętokrzyski Cemetery, which was liquidated in 1860, in what is now Warsaw's inner city. His son was the architect Franciszek Jaszczołd (1808–1873).
