Career
player
Maurice Malpas was a Scottish U-15 international with his first club Leven Royals. In 1979 the Scottish club Dundee United signed the young player. Malpas first played for the Dundee United youth team between 1979 and 1981 before making his senior team debut in November 1981. Malpas was not able to establish himself in the main eleven for the time being and so did his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering . So he made his debut for the national team in 1984. His first Scottish championship had previously won in 1983. In 1990 he took part in the World Cup in Italy with Scotland . In 1992 he was the only Dundee player to be inducted into the Scottish Footballers Hall of Fame. In 2000 he retired from life as a professional footballer and ended his career. With 617 league games, he holds the club's record for most league appearances.
Trainer
Malpas took over Terry Butcher's position as coach at Motherwell FC in 2006 . He left the club in 2007 to take on the role of interim coach for the Scottish U-21 national team . In 2008 Malpas took over the English club Swindon Town .
