Kevin William Gallacher (born November 23, 1966 in Clydebank , Scotland ) is a retired Scottish football player .

career

The 1.73 meter tall Scot began his career in 1983 with Dundee United in Scotland . In 1990 he left Dundee United. In seven years he played 131 games there and scored 27 goals. His second stop was Coventry City , where he was under contract until 1993. From 1993 he played in the English Premier League with the Blackburn Rovers , where he scored 47 goals in 146 games. In 1999 Gallacher was signed by Newcastle United . In 2001 he moved to Preston North End . However, he only played here for a year. Gallacher's last two stations were both in 2002. He played three games for Sheffield Wednesday , seven for Huddersfield Town . Gallacher was also a Scottish national player and participated with Scotland in the 1992 European Championship in Sweden , the 1996 European Championship in England and the 1998 World Cup in France . The center forward scored nine goals in 53 international matches .

successes

Gallacher's greatest successes include reaching the UEFA Cup final with Dundee United in 1987 , in which he lost 2-1 to IFK Gothenburg on a two-way leg . In 1995 he was English champion with the Blackburn Rovers, even if he had to sit out most of the season because of a broken foot.
