James McCall (born March 1, 1865 in Renton , † February 16, 1925 ) was a Scottish football player . In his playing career in the 1880s, he won the Scottish Cup twice and the British Home Championship three times .

Career

James McCall played for Renton FC in his hometown from at least 1885 to 1890 . With the club he reached the final of the Scottish Cup three times . He won the title with the team in 1885 and 1888 .

Between 1886 and 1890 he completed five international matches for the Scottish national football team and scored two goals. He made his debut on April 10, 1886 against Wales during the British Home Championship 1885/86, which he won with the national team. In the 4-1 win at Hampden Park , he scored his first goal in his first game for Scotland.

A year later he won the British Home Championship again with the team . McCall met on March 19, 1886 in the prestigious international match against England , which ended with a 3-2 away win on Leamington Road in Blackburn . The third triumph came in 1890 when England and Scotland shared the title.
