Michael Ruzhansky

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael V. Ruzhansky , also Michael Wladimirowitsch Ruschanski , Russian Михаил Владимирович Ружанский (* 1972 ) is a Russian mathematician who teaches at Imperial College London and deals with analysis.

Ruzhansky studied from 1989 at the State University of Saint Petersburg and from 1993 in the Netherlands (Mathematical Research Institute and Utrecht University). He received his PhD in 1998 under Johannes Jisse Duistermaat at the University of Utrecht (Dissertation: Singular Fibrations with Affine Fibers, with Applications to the Regularity Properties of Fourier Integral Operators ). As a post-graduate student , he was visiting professor at Johns Hopkins University . In 1998 he became a lecturer at the University of Edinburgh and in 2000 at Imperial College London , where he became a reader in 2006 and a professor in 2010.

He deals with differential equations, harmonic and micro-local analysis. Especially with hyperbolic partial differential equations, Schrödinger equations, evolution equations and dispersive differential equations, pseudo differential operators and micro-local analysis on symmetrical spaces such as Lie groups.

Two of his books received the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize . In 2008 he received a Leadership Fellowship from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council of Great Britain. In 2007/08 he was a Fellow of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science. In 2017 he received a Leverhulme scholarship.
