Ryan McGivern (born January 8, 1990 in Newry ) is a Northern Irish football player . The defender has played for FC Port Vale since 2014 . From 2008 to 2014 he was also active for the Northern Irish national team .
Career
society
Ryan McGivern, born in Newry , Northern Ireland's fourth largest city , began his professional career at Manchester City . With City's youth, McGivern was able to win the FA Youth Cup in the final against Chelsea in 2008. At Citizens, he went through the entire youth department before he was first appointed to the professional squad in April 2009. However, he would make his debut in the sky blue shirt two years later on April 3, 2011 under Roberto Mancini against AFC Sunderland after he was substituted on for Dedryck Boyata . Previously, the defensive player has to earn match practice at a fourth division to the Morecambe FC , second division Leicester City and the third division side FC Walsall awarded. In 2011 he was in the ManCity squad for a short time , but was awarded again after the new club owner Sheikh Mansour was able to sign numerous world-class players. First loaned to Crystal Palace and Bristol City , he was to switch to Hibernian Edinburgh from Scotland for the last time on loan in the 2012/13 season . With the Hibs McGivern reached the final of the Scottish Cup . In May 2013 he signed a two-year contract with Hibernian.
National team
Ryan McGivern has played for Northern Ireland since the Under-16s. With the U-19 he was able to win the Milk Cup in 2008, an international youth football tournament that takes place annually in Northern Ireland. The left-back made his debut for his home country A-Eleven in August 2008 at the age of 18 in a 0-0 draw in Glasgow against Scotland .
