Kelvin James Wilson (born September 3, 1985 in Nottingham ) is an English football player who is currently without a club.

Athletic career

Notts County

Kelvin Wilson started his football career with Notts County , a club from his hometown of Nottingham . His team was playing in Football League One at this time , but only reached 23rd place at the end of the season and thus the penultimate rank, which meant relegation. The 2004/05 season he played as a regular player, but only in the fourth highest English league. Notts County clearly missed the rebound with 19th place. In the following season things went even worse for the team, until shortly before the end of the season they were deep in the relegation battle and in the end had only 3 points ahead of relegated Oxford United .

Preston North End

Since the sporting perspective did not look more promising in the future, Kelvin Wilson switched to Preston North End on loan during the season in March 2006 . His new team played a very good season in the Football League Championship and ended up in 4th place. In the semi-finals of the play-offs Preston failed after a 1-1 away win, by a 2-0 home defeat at Leeds United . Wilson made 6 appearances and moved to Preston after the season for £ 300,000. With 21 league appearances, Wilson could not earn a regular place in the next season and then decided to move to Nottingham Forest .

Nottingham Forest

After moving for £ 300,000 again, he signed a four-year contract and made it into the starting eleven in Nottingham under coach Colin Calderwood . With 42 league appearances, he played a decisive role in the team's ascent to the Football League Championship, which was achieved by a second place in the table. It was thanks to the strong defense around him that Forest did not concede in 24 games and thus set a new league record. In the 2008/09 season , Wilson could not preserve his strong form of the previous season and only managed to stay in league, which was at risk in the meantime, with his team on the penultimate game day. Due to a red card after an assault, he was also missing the last games of the season. He missed the start of the Football League Championship 2009/10 due to an injury. After his recovery, however, he was able to quickly regain his regular position in defense and completed a very successful season with Forest, which led to a third place at the end of the season. In the first play-off round, however, Wilson failed with his team in two games at the later promoted Blackpool FC .

In January 2011 it was announced that Wilson had signed a preliminary contract with the Scottish top club Celtic Glasgow . The contract has a term of four years and is valid from the beginning of the 2011/12 season. During the season Wilson was hardly used under coach Billy Davies and only played ten games in the 2010/11 season .

Celtic Glasgow

After his contract in Nottingham expired, Kelvin Wilson moved to Celtic Glasgow in the Scottish Premier League on July 1, 2011 on a free transfer . He made his debut for his new team on Matchday 1 of the 2011/12 season against Hibernian Edinburgh . In September 2011 he injured his Achilles tendon and was out for two months, so that he was only used 15 times in the league. With the team he was able to win the Scottish Championship for the first time in the premiere season. In the following season 2012/13 he played under Neil Lennon as a regular player and came to 32 season games. With Celtic, Wilson was able to successfully defend the title from the previous year and make the double perfect by winning the cup .

Nottingham Forest

After two seasons in Scotland, Wilson returned to Nottingham Forest in August 2013 .
