The Football League Championship 2009/10 was the sixth season of the English Football League Championship and also the 18th season of the top division of the Football League - after the introduction of the Premier League - as only the second highest English league. It started on August 7, 2009 and ended on May 22, 2010.

The championship was won by Newcastle United , which also secured participation in the 2010/11 Premier League season . Behind runner-up and co-promoted West Bromwich Albion , Blackpool FC secured promotion to the Premier League as a playoff winner. In the Football League One had to dismount Sheffield Wednesday , Plymouth Argyle and Peterborough United .
