The Football League Second Division 1974/75 was the 72nd season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 17, 1974 and ended on April 30, 1975.

Second division champions were Manchester United and the second and third placed Aston Villa and Norwich City also rose to the Football League First Division . The three first division clubs Luton Town , Chelsea FC and Carlisle United, ranked in the table below, took the places for the three promoted teams in the following second division season 1975/76 . From the Second Division in the Football League Third Division dismount had the FC Millwall , Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday . Instead of the three clubs, the third division winner Blackburn Rovers and the Plymouth Argyle and Charlton Athletic, who ranked behind them, took the free positions in the following season 1975/76 .
