The Football League Second Division 1929/30 was the 34th season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 31, 1929 and ended on May 3, 1930.

Second division champions were Blackpool FC and also second-placed Chelsea rose to the Football League First Division . For the two promoted teams in the following second division season 1930/31, the two first division clubs Burnley FC and Everton FC, ranked in the table below, took their places. Hull City and Notts County had to relegate from the Second Division , with Hull City from now on in the North Season Football League Third Division North and Notts County in the Football League Third Division South . Instead of the two clubs in the following season 1930/31 Third Division North champions Port Vale and from the Third Division South the winner Plymouth Argyle took the vacant positions.
