The Football League Second Division 1963/64 was the 61st season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 24, 1963 and ended on April 27, 1964.
Second division champions Leeds United and also the second-placed AFC Sunderland rose to the Football League First Division . For the two promoted teams in the following second division season 1964/65, the two first division teams Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town ranked in the table below . Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United had to relegate from the Second Division to the Football League Third Division . Instead of the two clubs, the third division winners Coventry City and third division champions Crystal Palace took the vacant positions in the following season 1964/65 .
