The Football League Second Division 1969/70 was the 67th season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 9, 1969 and ended on April 20, 1970.
Second division champions were Huddersfield Town and also the second-placed Blackpool FC rose to the Football League First Division . For the two promoted teams in the following second division season 1970/71, the two first division clubs AFC Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday ranked in the table below . Aston Villa and Preston North End had to relegate from the Second Division to the Football League Third Division . Instead of the two clubs, the third division winners FC Orient and third division champions Luton Town took the vacant positions in the following season 1970/71 .
